- C's biopsy came back negative for cancer and hemochromatosis - good news! On the downside, they're still not sure what's causing other problems, so please continue to pray for her health as you think of her.
- G doesn't have an ear infection. :) She is still running a fever but she checked out okay at the doctor.

2 Quick Updates
I'm Going Back to Cali
Yesterday was a long day. Ro had to work and after work he had to go to Denver for a pharmacy awards thing. He got dinner out of it, but he didn't get home until 10. We missed him yesterday!
But boy did I get a lot done around here. It was strange... I almost felt like I was nesting or something! I pretty much didn't stop until I went to bed around 11. I cleaned, organized, moved furniture, and a lot more. I even baked a cake for Ro to take to work today. His boss was great about changing his schedule to accommodate my flight plans so I thought it would be a good day to bring in a cake. :)
I have to admit I'm a little nervous about how it turned it, though. It *looks* okay, but you know, you can't really taste a cake you're giving to someone. Yes, I've made the cake a zillion times (our family Bundt cake recipe) but I've never made it at an altitude of 5000 feet. I read online how to modify recipes for high altitude, and read the back of the cake mix box, and the information was conflicting... so... I added a little extra water (as suggested by the website), and turned the heat down 25° (as per the box) and it seems okay, so we'll see.
In the meantime I'm getting ready for our trip today. C and I are going back to CA. :) We are both very excited about the trip - not only to see our family and friends, but also because it's a mom-daughter gig and C's first airplane ride. Fun, huh?
Why are we going when we just got here, you ask? My awesome sister is being inducted into the Hall of Fame where she works! Isn't that cool? So C and I are making the trip for the weekend to be there at the ceremony. We'll also go to the Homecoming Game Friday night. We'll be back on Sunday night so I won't be able to blog for a couple of days.

- I hurt my toe pretty bad this morning (don't ask). I pushed it back to where it's supposed to go but it's pretty sore. Please pray for me as I trudge through the airports and attempt to wear shoes this weekend.

One of those Days
So yesterday was kind of an odd day. I've got a lot to accomplish by tomorrow and the busy-ness of it has kept me in kind of an odd mood, and then various things happened with my friends and family that just kind of put me in one of those very blah moods.
Thank you if you prayed for my friend C who had a liver biopsy on Monday. The procedure was pretty intense, actually, and yesterday she was pretty exhausted and had some residual pain. Still praying for her recovery and results (which she hopes to get back today).
Yesterday I also heard some frustrating news with another friend... man... sometimes it is so discouraging and frustrating to see how the unjust prevail in this world. I am thankful that God *is* just, though, and eventually, even if not in this lifetime, His justice will prevail.
And then C called after school, pretty disappointed. Unfortunately she didn't get a part in the play and she thought she did well at the audition.
So by the time I picked up C, it was just one of those days!
However, things got a little bit better after that.
I attended an information meeting for a program at J's school called Odyssey of the Mind. I won't bore you with all the details; if you want information I'll let you click the link. However, this looks like such an incredible opportunity for J, and it seems like something that he would really thrive on. We are still considering carefully our decision to participate, however, because of the time involved. It initially only meets once or twice a week, but as competition approaches it can meet daily, and the commitment is pretty serious.
We never had OM in our last school district. In fact, though it's an international program, I'd never heard of it. If any of you have, or have participated, would you mind sharing your experiences with me? Greatly appreciated!
After the meeting we went and visited a man who had some Manx kitties he was giving away. Of course, C's heart
melted and she chose one and has named her Velcro. She really is a cute little thing and slept on C's bed last night. :)
So at least the OM meeting and the Velcro acquistion helped bring the tone of the night back up some. I also was able to finalize some childcare plans for this weekend and then the rest of the evening was a blur with all the activity ~ J's project, getting Velcro settled in, phone calls, taking care of Hamy, etc. ~ on top of all the usual stuff. Sorry I didn't get a chance to post.

Bits and Pieces
- C got her progress report last Friday. She got a B in science and health, and A's in everything else, including an A+ in algebra. Hmmm... last year she sure struggled with math. Could it be...? Nah...
- We did Family Movie Night the other night. We watched The Wizard of Oz. Can you believe the kids had never seen it? No, you can believe it. These are the kids who are just learning how to ride bikes, I know.
- I think I need a baby straitjacket for Miss G. Now she not only stands up in her highchair; she climbs out and sits on top of it. :(
- J has finished reading Bridge to Terabithia and is working on a project with it for school. It includes a banner, a written report, and a speech. His first speech! :)
- C is excited to be dissecting a chicken wing in school tomorrow. :)
