Hope it counts for working out. Given the amount of sticky wetness all over me from cleaning house, you'd think it would. Ew. I hate sweating.
My beloved firstborn is sweating herself, I imagine. She is at Day 2 of July Band Camp - 4 twelve-hour days and one ten-hour day tooting and laughing and team-building and tooting some more. She had a great time yesterday but I bet by Friday she'll be exhausted.
My beloved secondborn is upstairs trying to defeat something or other I imagine. My beloved thirdborn is sacked out in my bed, fan directly on her, lucky duck.
Can you tell there's not much news to report over here?
I'll tell you a funny... ever since Grace got rescued by that hot guy, she talks often about marrying one. After VBS she set her sights on one of the pastors' sons - Jaden. I think he's about 10. Today, while eating in Runza, she spied a kid about the same age with the same dark hair and said, "There he is - that hot guy Jaden I'm gonna marry!"
At least she has good taste.

At the Movies
I've really been on a movie kick lately. Actually haven't seen as many as I'd like to but I've been trying to get out and go when I can. Ro and I went to see Salt (see salt, sea salt, hahaha I'm funny) yesterday and it was pretty fun. I won't spoil it for you and it's not the best movie I've ever seen, but it was worth paying the $6 apiece for.
As I mentioned the other day we watched The Book of Eli on Redbox. I like watching DVDs at home, but there's just something cooler about going to the movies. I hate the expense, but I love the big air-conditioned theater, the big screen up front, the big tub of buttered finger-lickin'-good popcorn in my lap, the big soda in the cupholder to my left. It took me a little while to get into Eli - perhaps it was because at home there are so many distractions, but at the movies, that's (usually) not the case.
I'm not interrupted by children (usually), the phone, the doorbell, the 30 unfinished tasks on my to-do list for the day that haven't even been begun. People are all in a good mood; have you ever noticed that? Well, except when you choose a darker movie. Leaving The Passion of the Christ one afternoon - wow, talk about being somber!
Ro isn't a big fan of going to the movies, but he indulges me. I think the people bug him. In fact, during the ads (not even the previews) before the flick, he was concerned that the old guy in front was going to talk through the whole thing.
But I love to go.
You? Why?

Movie Night
Ro and I finally had a chance to watch the Redbox that he'd rented last weekend ~ The Book of Eli. It took a little bit for me to get into, and after 37 1/2 interruptions from the kids about 4 hours to watch, but when it was finished, I thought it was pretty stinkin' good.
Anyone seen it?

Don'tcha'll Worry Now...
... the blog background is not in (permanent) jeopardy.
Craziness ensues here today. Child #3 has a friend over. Child #1 has a friend over. Child #4 (that would be Pop) had a physical therapist over. I need a mental therapist I think. The calendar is crazy with scribbles and busy-ness.
And here I sit, hiding in the basement. Like any good parent would do when their kids have friends over, right?
Do you know, that in the past 15 years, I bet I have only been invited to a couple home (direct-sales) parties? I do direct sales, but no one invites me anywhere. I was the "friend" of the "bring a friend" gig when I went to my first PC party back in around 96 or so - at Wanda Southwick's house. Look where that got me - ha! ;)
I went to one of those, you know, toy (NOT Discovery Toys) parties around 10 years ago at Barbara's house. A candle party at Donna's. And I think that's it for the AV. Last year I went to some home party that I can't even remember the name of for a friend - again I was not invited myself. :P And tomorrow night, I am going to a jewelry party that a past host-now friend has invited me to.
I don't really wear jewelry. But I'm kind of excited.
Beats going to the band fundraising meeting for the Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, doesn't it? I love my hubba!
Do you know that Christmas is exactly 6 months away from Sunday? Ayayay!
I'm looking forward to August. Man camp. Family trip. Texans visiting Pop. Anniversary. School starting. Fair. CORN ROAST FESTIVAL. Mom visiting. School starting. (Sorry Deb, but I am counting the days.) (25, in case you're wondering.)
But I have to get through July first, I suppose. And by getting through it I mean stop procrastinating and playing on the world wide web and getting something productive done.
xoxo

Monday Musings... on Wednesday
Well, for those of you who know me well or who have been reading this blog for some time know that I struggle with getting overwhelmed, scheduling my time, and eating frogs. One of the things I heard at Conference last week is that we can have balance - but we have to choose it, and that translates into being disciplined with how we spend our time and guard it.
So here I am on day 3 of that and... you know. Monday went great, Tuesday went well, and today... I'm way behind already. It's a process, though, right? :) That said, on Monday I got a LOT done, on Tuesday I got a lot done, and today, so far, not so much. :P
I had a great time in Chicago... not only was I able to connect with my team but I was able to get re-motivated to make this business successful and I made a very special friend. I missed the fam, though, and when I got home we proceeded to spend the next 48 hours spoiling the kids with dinner out, ice cream, and a movie. It was fun, though. I can't believe how much they are sure growing up.
I think the fam missed me, too. Not sure who missed me more - Robert or Wookiee.
If memory serves me right, Geo is off today (or sometime this week) to Poland to teach English and share Christ! How cool is that? Be sure to keep her in your prayers.
Better get a move on. It's storytime day and that's a BIG deal around here. :)

FFR (a day or two late, sorry)
Well, thought I did well in Chicago. I walked my tail off and ate with self-control. I thought! All I ate in the amazing Hershey store was one little Kiss, and I only ate a couple bites of dessert each time... a piece and a half only of pizza at the famous Gino's... I don't get it. The scale did not move. Oh well... I'm still excercising and being self-controlled, so I'm not going to get discouraged.

FFR
Well, shoot. I thought I had the best week yet in terms of disciplined eating and walking. Kind of disappointing to step on the scale. I'm a little concerned about eating on my trip next week - keep me in your prayers that I'll stay disciplined!
As far as the weight gain, I keep hearing Dori in my head: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.
How's everyone else doing?

1. Robert saw a bumper sticker yesterday that read:
I love it.
2. It's Friday, the start of Loveland Loves Barbecue, and I'm finding myself kind of missing Stubby. He didn't come back this year, and I'm really, really bummed.
3. Today I must shave my legs. Why? I am going to get a pedicure this afternoon. What pampering! I think I've only had 2 real pedicures in my whole life. It has been a few years since Deb, Chris, and I went over to the beauty school to have our toes pampered. This afternoon I'm going with Tracy and I'm really looking forward to the "reward" after a very, very busy week.
4. Yesterday Pop went to the doctor and we discussed a long list of concerns. All is well; the poor guy is just getting old, you know. Later we went and got his pedicure done at the senior center. That's a lot of activity for him in one day.
5. Monday Grace has her last dance class and her first gymnastics class. She loves dancing, but has been doing so many handstands, cartwheels, somersaults, and flips around here we thought we might need to explore that avenue.
6. I have to leave my house at 3AM for my flight Monday. :/
7. After knowing her 3 years and really knowing her better in this past year and a half or so, I just noticed my friend Jackie has dimples.
8. I have had a very busy week. When I travel alone, I have to prepare for my trip as well as prepare for those staying behind, you know, so everything can run as smoothly as possible. I think I am down to about the last 6 or 10 items on my very, very, very long list. I'm hoping to finish them all today so that my pedi really will be a treat and I can enjoy the weekend fully with my fam.
9. Off to take a walk! Have a great weekend!
Technically, the destruction of an entire country IS change.
I love it.

8 on the 8th
1. Do not fear. You know I cannot keep this up all the way until the 31st. (But it might be fun challenge to try!)
2. Perhaps yesterday's post should have been entitled "7 on the 7th of the 7th Month."
3. Check out the full-page ad Hobby Lobby placed in our newspaper (and a kazillion others) on Sunday. I wish I had more money to support such a bold company!
4. Yesterday I bought new bras and panties. I just have to say that I hate wearing bras, but this one that I purchased might just be the most comfortable bra I have *ever* worn - and I've worn a lot of bras for a lot of years, you know. This is testified to by the fact that I did not walk in the door after Pop's doc appointment and tear it off and fling it on the ottoman as I usually do.
5. I might as well leave it on I suppose because Christianne forgot her lunch for band camp today and I have a feeling I will soon be getting a phone call.
6. I heard some wonderful news last night on the radio: Audio Adrenaline has reunited (for the time being), put together a new (farewell) album, AND will be playing in the Denver area next week! If you haven't heard songs like "DC10" or "My God Died on the Cross" as well as some of their deeper stuff, you're missing out. Great band.
7. What do you think of allowances? If you use(/d) them with your kids, what was your system?
8. This must be the first July I've ever experienced - that's 41 Julys, you know - that I'm wearing jeans because it's chilly today.

7 on the 7th
1. Yesterday I read Carpoolqueen's blog about a recent trip to the Grand Canyon. Now I want to do it. Target: Spring Break 2011. Not sure if it's doable yet, but it sounds like a good goal.
2. I have a bug up my butt big-time for a motorhome.
3. I am doing one of the best Bible studies ever with a group of soul sisters. It's called Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free by Nancy Lee DeMoss. I agreed to study it thinking that most if it wasn't for me - but wow, have my eyes been opened. I'd recommend it to all of you - men and women!
4. I do not understand what purpose God had in mind in creating mosquitos.
5. Or roaches.
6. Last week, Grace was playing in the river and went under. A guy with a big dog went in and got her. (Yes, it was scary, and yes, I know that I've just forfeited my Mother of the Year award - again.) Afterward, Grace told Joshua: "That man saved my life. He was hot. When I get married I'm going to marry a hot guy like that."
7. Chris had sectionals / marching practice yesterday, and today and tomorrow she has an all day "mini" July band camp. On Friday she is playing the Star Spangled Banner at the band-sponsored Drums Across the Rockies event. She says it is stressing her out. Girl, wait til school and regular rehearsals actually begin!

6 Things on the 6th
1. Our 4th of July celebration was extended to the 5th of July. Over the weekend no rain was forecast, but just as Ro took the meat off the grill (that was good timing!) the rain began ~ and didn't quit for hours. The city show was postponed til last night, as were our own pyro presentations. It is hard to keep telling a 4yo to "wait until dark, wait until dark," and then, "wait until tomorrow at dark..."
2. I am looking so forward to Loveland Loves Barbecue this weekend.
3. I am also looking so forward to getting out of the proverbial Dodge next week.
4. We are a week into July and I have not turned on my air conditioner except for one failed attempt when Pop made me heat up the house to make him corn bread right before I was having a party here for my unspecified business endeavor last week. I do not like to sweat or be hot so this is a huge, huge thing for me. It's been a little warm at times, but not unbearable. It probably helps that my computer and life are set up in the basement now, though, rather than the loft - but the kids haven't complained about the heat and Pop certainly won't.
5. One day last week (I think) we took the kids to Sonic for 99-cent sundaes. It was fun, and I had an ice water. Now this is the strange part: I have been craving an ice water from Sonic ever since. Not the water so much as the ice. Have you ever noticed their ice before? Little ice balls, perfect for crunching because they're almost soft. My gosh, I keep hoping my daily errands will take me to the vicinity of a Sonic but so far, no luck. And I'm way too cheap and lazy to drive out of the way for ice water.
6. Josh has been walking with me the past couple of days. I have enjoyed our time together so much! We talk, walk, laugh... it's great for both of us, physically and familyly.

FFR
Well, this was a MUCH better week! I also started walking this week and I'm feeling pretty good.
I've realized that my "trouble time" is between lunch and dinner - around 3 and 4 p.m. If I eat, I tend to eat the wrong things, and if I don't, then when I get to dinner I overeat. I'm going to try to start making that my sort-of Take 5 time to sit down, re-focus, and eat a filling, healthy snack like an apple if I'm hungry.
I haven't blogged about anything else this week. I can't even tell you why. I don't know where the days have gone, honestly. We are already halfway through 2010! Sorry my blog has been so dull lately!
