Tattoo You

What band does that album title go with?

So let me take a few minutes to update you on what Our Miss Grace has been up to. She has learned her address and phone number (I can't remember if I told you that and I'm too lazy to go back and reread). I set them to music and she picked them up pretty quickly. I offered to teach Pop the song, too, but he just laughed. For now he just carries the info on a card in his wallet.

A couple of weeks ago I heard the chairs being slid on the floor upstairs. I went up to see what she was in to and the first thing I found was a piece of toast on the living room coffee table, then another on the kitchen table, and a third in the toaster, which Grace was watching carefully. "Mom, I can cook just like you!"

I thought I'd outsmart her by keeping the toaster unplugged, but yesterday when I came in she was pushing buttons to start the microwave. Inside was an envelope of popcorn, still encased in plastic. Yeah. Good timing on that one, at least.

There are so many funny things she says every day but when I sit down to blog they all disappear from my feeble mind. I know the other day she was singing as she sat on the potty, "I'm going to eliminate you! I'm going to eliminate you!" I don't think she knows what the word means so I don't think she was singing to her poo... but it sure struck me funny all the same.

She received a valentine with a punch-out paper doll. When I told her to go ahead and punch it out, she balled up her fist and began to hit the princess in the face. Good one, Amelia Bedelia.

In Black-eyed Pea she broke out into an American Idol version of "Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wow," to the great approval of a passing waitress. She shakes her butt and sings, "That's what my baby says, bow-chicka-wow-wow-wow." It's actually quite catchy.

And, this week, in honor of missing her Auntie Deb, Grace decided she needed a tattoo just like her tia's. Here's what she came up with:

Just a bit ago I went looking for her and it was rather quiet in here (and you know what that usually means; if not, please re-read this post from the beginning). I found her upstairs, sitting on Pop's lap. She said, "Mom! I'm watching TV with my grandpa!" Wish I'd caught a picture of that one. My two kids - Grace and Pop - cuddling together in front of the TV.
It's a pretty stinkin' good life.
