First came Aunt Martha, Cousin Tex Heather, and her girls McKenzie and Bailey to allow us our little trip to Canon City. They had perhaps the hardest part, with us being away and Pop needing a trip to urgent care. Thanks again, though, for allowing us that break and time away to reconnect with our kids!
Then Mom arrived, and we've spent the last couple of weeks hanging out and taking care of Pop together, seeing some of his bad days but also blessed to see him have a
lot of good days as well.
Uncle Mark and Stephen came in next for a few days. It sounds so melodramatic now, but we just didn't know (and still don't) how Pop will continue... he has days of lucidity mixed with days of severe confusion. I'm glad they didn't dawdle, but came while he was on a good streak. You just can't tell how quickly he may continue to decline, you know?
They barely got out of Colorado before Deb arrived. ;) It's actually a shame they couldn't see each other ~ it's been a long time.
As always, we had a fab visit with Deb here. I love having her here, although she makes me feel like a slug. My Deb ~ she has trouble just sitting and enjoying the finer things in life sometimes. Her brain never stops moving. She wasn't here 12 hours before she'd mowed the front and back lawns, trimmed the bushes, and edged the edges. Craziness. We spent the weekend hanging with Pop, catching a movie, eating (not as much as we used to but Deb's lost a chunk of flab!), playing endless games of Sequence, and trying our hands at Apples to Apples.
Ro smoked a butt for Labor Day ~ we had ice cream cake to celebrate someone's birthday, someone who was very spoiled with some wonderful, thoughtful gifts.
But as we know, all good things come to an end. Took the Californians back to the airport yesterday evening and this morning I'm up and looking for my routine again. Back to reality.
Off to a doctor visit again today - just for hearing aid repair today. Guess I'd better get a move on and jump in the shower so Pop doesn't show me up after his grooming with the CNA yesterday.
xoxo
