Thankful

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Thanksgiving is....
Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude to God, our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care go before us... and whose love is with us forever.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we, too, grow and change from one season of life to another.
Thanksgiving is a time of changing seasons, when leaves turn golden in Autumn's wake and apples are crisp in the first chill breezes of fall.
Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. As we see the beauty of Autumn, let us acknowledge the many blessings which are ours... let us think of our families and friends... and let us give thanks in our hearts.

Did you know that Thanksgiving was originally ordained as a time to give thanks to God the Father? That part really surprised me when I learned that this week, as Thanksgiving has become just another secular holiday to many in the world who choose not to believe or acknowledge God in their lives. But I ask you, how can you be truly thankful without acknowledging the One from Whom all blessings flow? Doesn't it miss the big picture? It's one thing to recognize the blessings in our lives, but quite another to fall humbly before the God Who loves us, the One from Whom all good and perfect gifts come, knowing that in the light of His holiness, we truly deserve none of it. It is humbling to think about.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Blessed beyond all words,
Beth
