Yesterday Grace was playing in the basement and found a couple of swim noodles. (Not familiar with them? They're about 6' long and look like this.) She grabbed them and went up to my mom and said, "Memaw, you wanna play Hi-Ya?" as she handed Mom a noodle.
Mom said, "Sure. How do you play?"
And Grace took her noodle and swung it at her Memaw, yelling, "HI-YA!"
Sort of surprised poor Memaw.

Grace's favorite TV show is Max & Ruby, a kids' show on Noggin and Nick Jr. based on the characters by Mary Wells. Recently we found a M&R book at the library that Grace particularly loves, in which Max, who can't talk or write yet, really wants some Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters. It has been really cool to go through the story with Grace, because on each page we say, "But Max wanted..." and Grace chimes in, "Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters!"
Really cool.
Until we began to deal with reality.
And trying to explain to Grace why we just can't go to WalMart and get some.
She wants Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters. I say we don't have any. She says, "Then go to the store and get some." I say they don't have them. She says, "Go to the store and get some," a little more strongly.
Yep.
Fun. :)
