We were surprised to learn from the Elks Lodge that Joshua had entered a poster contest they sponsored about being drug-free. Evidently the kids in his GT class all entered posters, and... Josh won! All the kids got a $25 WalMart gift card and a certificate for participating... and Josh came in 2nd place and won a $100 savings bond! Pretty amazing kid! I'm not sure if I was most impressed with his poster or his behavior while on stage accepting his award! (OK so maybe we did threaten him a little bit to leave his class clowning at home, but hey, he still did it!) The kids were honored after the Elks Lodge provided us all with an all-you-can-eat dinner. One of the highlights was the President (?) of the Lodge talking to the kids about heroes. She told them that they are heroes. It was a pretty cool night.
